‘Sup, everyone?!
Just wanted to drop a quick note on the old blog regarding last Saturday night (May 20th). We had a great time at the ‘House, as always!
The BIG news was ADAM RHUDY! WOW! Adam performed some absolutely stellar stuff with his individual acoustic style. Adam did a set of very moving, anointed and cool stuff – including “24” (a personal favorite) and many more. Adam is a regular performer at Jumpin’ J’s Café, a coffeehouse in Abingdon, Virginia, and a praise leader at his church, Rosedale Baptist. We are planning to get Adam back as soon as he is willing to visit again! GREAT JOB, ADAM! COMEDY! WE HAD SOME COMEDY HAPPENIN’ AT THE ‘HOUSE! Our House regulars Jeff Arwood and Bobby Street kicked it in and had folks in stitches! (Jeff – I am just glad you didn’t bring the swords this time – as an aside, for you guys who are wondering – Jeff is the only guy I know who can speak on the subject of the love of Christ with a sword in each hand …no kidding! Seriously…a really BIG sword er, actually, a COUPLE of really big swords). Our guest comedian this weekend was Lowden Thomas from Abingdon – he absolutely cracked everyone up with his assistant. GREAT JOB, GUYS! The HG House Band jammed out with renditions of “Freeride” and a number of other tunes. Emily Ratliff and K.T. Vandyke provided lead vocals extraordinaire, Roger Vandyke on guitar, Ted Watson on bass, and BR. Chris Hughes did a great job as our sound tech. Unfortunately, our buddy Jay Hagy was unable to make it. We will be rescheduling Jay in the immediate future, so keep it here for the date.
A number of churches were represented at the ‘House on Saturday and we definitely want to recognize you folks (who also happen to be, not only brothers and sisters in Christ, but also our dear friends!). ROY AND JANET ROGERS! It was so good to have you guys back at OFG for at least one night! Roy and Janet are youth leaders, who traveled all the way from Lebanon and brought their youth – everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. VEL AND VALERIE HARTSOCK! Thanks for being with us! WES STRINGER, Carol Robinson, and the Rosedale Baptist Church youth! Oh – hey – Wes traveled all the way from LYNCHBURG VIRGINIA to be at the ‘House with us on Saturday – (GO WES!!!!). Needless to say – a lot of great fellowship, and a comfortable environment for a number of folks who weren’t Christians as well. By the way – that is what Higher Ground is about – bringing people together and making it comfortable for folks who are not Christians (so they can be with Christians and hear about Christ). Again – God bless you all! Thanks for hanging out with us!
Next show is scheduled for Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 7:00 P.M. Our friends Jeremy Dotson and the band VISION will be joining the ‘House regulars. Come ready to have some fun – jump onstage and do a “whose line is it anyway” bit -- ;) …can be REALLY funny stuff!
Before signing off, I want to say to Carol Robinson – thanks for all you do and for supporting our ministry! Carol is a praise leader at Rosedale Baptist Church, a youth leader/teacher, a great singer, a super supporter of the youth, and spearheads “Jumpin’J’s Café.” Great job Carol! God Bless you!
You know, that classic song just came to mind…”Our God is an awesome God, He reigns from Heaven above, with wisdom, power and love…Our God is awesome God!” That is so true. So very important at this moment in time. I guess that verse is for someone who is reading this ;) …it was for me too. God loves you! Check John 3:16 in the bible to really get the gist of exactly HOW MUCH God loves you.
Okay…I guess that is it for now! Come see us and hang out on June 3rd! Oh, yeah—pray for me (BR) – I am studying like a madman for the biggest exam of my life. I know God will help me persevere…he always has and always does ;) but, if you think about it…
GODSPEED! Later…BR
