Saturday, March 18th - GREAT SHOW!

HEY!  ‘SUP, EVERYONE?!

Saturday, March 18th was an awesome time at the ‘House!  We had “Unction Function” live (sorry Jessie – I think the name is cool ;)  ).  They absolutely blew us away.  Their style is a very smooth, modern contemporary/Christian rock conglomeration with a lot of percussive nuances.  WE LOVE ‘EM!  Manny Elswick on vocals and guitar, Jessie Elswick on Bass, Chris on drums, and they had guest guitarist Shawn Davis.  An absolutely amazing set was laid down!  Another cool item worthy of mention is that Shawn helped out Unction Function and had never played with them before – wow!  You’d have thought he was a regular member.  GREAT JOB GUYS! I am a big fan – by the way, my favorite song is “All That You do” – is that one original? I think it was – but it was great!

Jeff Arwood put forth his comedic stylings and really cracked up folks with his “ESP.”  Beginning this week, you can e-mail Jeff directly at ghost_of_kamikaze@yahoo.com for “Ax Jeff.”  Send Jeff a question and he will address it appropriately during his next set!  Yep…try it!  Should be a hoot!  Any question will do – but be appropriate, please.  I ran away!  Scared to death since I figured Jeff would pick on me again ;)  -- Great job, Jeff!
Bobby Street was our guest comic – As always, fantastic!  His one-liners kept the whole crowd on their toes.  Thanks, Bobby!  Great job!
The Higher Ground House Band jammed out this weekend!  YEAH!  HGHB  played a version of “FREERIDE” that was REALLY cool!  The houseband played a bunch of new songs, including Freeride, I’ll Fly Away, Blink of an Eye, By Surprise, Every Crown Has It’s Thorn, -- hmm there was more, but I can’t remember!  We tried to use the time off wisely ;)  .  This week’s houseband consisted of Roger, Ted, Em, KT, Gene, and BR.
Thanks to the Jamison’s – these folks traveled all the way from Bluefield to be with us at Higher Ground!  Abby – Randi – you guys come back and bring some friends!

MANY, MANY, MANY thanks to Rita Keen, Tina Lester, and Andrea Horn!  Missi was sort of limited this weekend due to a surgery earlier in the week.  Rita, Tina, and Andrea saved the day!  God bless you guys…thank you SO much.  Without you, we would not have been able to open Saturday!

Remember – God loves you!  Yep…YOU!

Next Higher Ground is scheduled for April 15th.  Jay Hagy will be joining us.  See Jay’s web site at www.jayhagy.com.  Godspeed!  BR

Saturday the 18th - HIGHER GROUND! Come visit and bring a friend!

Hi Guys!
Long time, no see…er, no talk,…uh, well…certainly long time, no Higher Ground!

I HAVE THE SOLUTION!  Higher Ground Christian Coffee House will be on this weekend, Saturday, March 18th at 7:00 P.M.  Saturday’s show includes “Unction Function” a modern upbeat Christian group – their style reminds me a lot of John Mayer – but come on over and see what you think!  Manny and Jessie Elswick are great musicans, as are their counterparts.  Of course the Higher Ground House Band will be there, and Emily Ratliff will be doing a solo set.

Grab a friend and head for Higher Ground!  Oh yeah…thought for the day … “THE MOON.”  Come visit us on Saturday night – I’ll explain ;)

Godspeed…BR
