This weekend...ONE OF THE ALL-TIME BEST ;)
Hi Everyone!
I cannot even begin to describe how utterly PHENOMENAL Saturday night was at the ‘House! We literally had a BLAST from start to finish.
I only have a minute, (it is that time here at school – exams, final Seminar Paper and presentation all coming up right away – please pray for me! ;) ) so I have to be brief. Hopefully, I can come back to this entry and more fully describe this outstanding evening at Higher Ground.
The SHOW was unbelievable! The Higher Ground House Band took the stage (hey, you guys should have been proud! We started on time!) and did about 5 songs to a rockin’ crowd of around 80-90. Everyone was into the music and making the spirit flow – hey—we like it when you guys wave your arms in the air and scream! This week the band included Emily Ratliff, Roger Vandyke, K.T. Vandyke, Gene Boyd, Ted Watson, and yours truly. Chris Hughes has become our regular sound technician and also did a wonderful job. THANKS!
Jeff Arwood and Derrick Stilwell performed stand-up comedy – good job guys! Jeff is our regular, “not decaf, half the sugar and twice the caffeine – comic” Funny stuff! We appreciate you guys!
Eddie and Mary Day BLEW US AWAY! They had two new CD’s at the show for sale – one of which is my new personal favorite, “Sky Blues.” Eddie’s guitar playing excites me (and everyone else) and their music speaks to the hearts of all who listen. Their ministry is clearly one of love and concern for lost souls…all the while having a GREAT TIME! We cannot wait to have them back and are planning their return. EDDIE AND MARY DAY – Our gratitude and appreciation for you guys is literally beyond words. Your talents and ministries are outstanding. We feel such a connection to you guys – we love you. Be sure to check them out on the web at www.eddieday.org.
Bobby Street returned with a hysterical set of stand-up comedy. WOW! Bobby will be back in the future as well. His unassuming demeanor makes his set particularly hilarious. Bobby attends Brother Leonard Meadows’ “Prayer Warrior House” church and we were privilegd to have Brother Meadows visit on Saturday.
Thanks to everyone who helped out in the kitchen…Rita, Tina (of course my lovely wife, Melissa!) – but also Ted, Emily and Chris! Great job guys….without you, this project cannot happen.
Okay…I am running out of time, so…gotta go. REMEMBER – Higher Ground will be closed through December. Our next show is scheduled for JANUARY 7, 2005.
Godspeed…BR
